This project renovated a primary suite and kitchen of a weekend and summer house on Candlewood Lake, CT for a New York City based family. In keeping with the existing home’s timber and stone “ski-lodge” aesthetic, the bathroom received a sophisticated upgrade with seamlessly detailed Poanazzo marble slabs framed by custom-milled walnut planks. Hand-hewn heavy timber beams from an old barn were refinished to match the walnut and installed to look like structural ceiling beams. The glass-cornered shower was an addition and dramatically cantilevers over the slope down to the lake. Clad in organically veined marble slab walls and floor and richly charactered walnut ceiling planks, surrounded by views of the trees and lake - one can literally bathe in the beauty of natural materials.
The kitchen sings with a similar harmony of natural materials - here walnut cabinetry is topped with stunning Macchia Vecchia slabs. Custom cabinetry by Bilotta Kitchens features solid walnut exterior and interiors stocked full of custom walnut accessories developed to suit this client’s entertaining needs.
