About

Bilotta Architecture is a New York–based architecture and interiors firm rooted in a multi-generational legacy of residential design, construction, and craftsmanship. Founded by architect Sarah Witkin, the practice approaches each project with the belief that the most meaningful spaces are deeply personal — designed not only around how people live, but around who they are.

Working across ground-up homes, comprehensive renovations, and interior transformations, Bilotta Architecture creates spaces that balance architectural clarity with warmth, livability, and enduring material quality. The firm’s work is shaped by a close and collaborative design process that values thoughtful listening, technical rigor, and careful attention to detail from concept through construction.

Inspired by a family history in custom homebuilding and millwork, Bilotta Architecture brings together architecture, interiors, and a passion for craftsmanship to create homes that feel refined, intuitive, and deeply connected to the lives lived within them.

Design Legacy

The Bilotta name has long been associated with quality residential design and construction through the reputation established by Bilotta Kitchen & Home. Sarah Witkin represents the third generation of a family deeply connected to the craft of building homes.

Inspired by her grandfather, who founded Bilotta as a custom mill shop and homebuilding company, and by the generations that expanded the business into a nationally recognized design brand, Sarah established Bilotta Architecture as a continuation of that legacy through the practice of architecture.

Today, the firm carries forward those values of craftsmanship, collaboration, and thoughtful design while bringing a contemporary architectural perspective to residential projects throughout New York and beyond.

Sarah Witkin, AIA

Founder + Principal

Sarah Witkin is a licensed architect with more than 15 years of experience leading projects across residential, multi-family, retail, and institutional sectors in New York City and internationally. Her work spans a wide range of scales and typologies, from luxury private residences and apartment renovations to affordable housing developments and an award-winning sustainable hospital campus in rural Nepal. This breadth of experience informs a design approach that balances large-scale architectural thinking with a deep sensitivity to the rituals and realities of everyday living.

Before founding Bilotta Architecture, Sarah worked with leading architecture and interiors firms in New York, where she developed expertise in high-end residential construction, integrated interior design, and the technical coordination required to execute complex projects with precision and care. Her work is grounded in the belief that architecture should feel both highly functional and deeply personal — spaces that support daily life while creating a sense of warmth, calm, and connection.

With a strong understanding of both architecture and interiors, Sarah approaches each project holistically, considering everything from spatial flow and natural light to materiality, furnishings, and the smaller details that shape how a home is experienced over time. Her design approach combines artistic intuition, refined aesthetic sensibility, and meticulous attention to detail to create richly layered environments that feel timeless, intimate, and uniquely reflective of the people who inhabit them.

Sarah received her Master of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley College of Environmental Design and her Bachelor of Arts in Architectural and Art History from Columbia College.

She is licensed to practice architecture in New York and Florida.
